Who's that girl? Tulisa swaps the false lashes and short skirt for new conservative look as she steps out in Mayfair

By Jennifer Ruby

She failed to impress in the style stakes during last weekend's X Factor, so it seems that Tulisa Contostavlos is having a wardrobe re-think.

The 24-year-old singer might have gained recognition for her music and feisty opinions on the ITV show, but her confused style has been panned by the critics.

Usually a fan of bright, heavy make-up and miniskirts, the London-born singer had a fashion U-turn as she stepped out with a new conservative look on Tuesday night.

Unrecognisable: Tulisa dons a conservative black and minimal make-up for a night out in London's Mayfair

Wearing a demure black dress with a high neckline, Tulisa looked the epitome of sophistication as she headed to exclusive Mayfair members' club The Arts Club with her fellow judges.

The former N-Dubz star, who's mentoring the girls' category in this year's X Factor, braved the cold with bare arms and legs, clearly eager to show off her new look.

The star went fresh-faced for her night out, ditching her usual heavy eye make-up and bright lip colour in favour of a completely natural look.

With barely-there foundation, light pink lips and a dab of mascara, the star looked a far cry from her usual image.

A pair of towering heels and a hint of fake tan were the only reminders of the old Tulisa, who looked sombre as she left the club alone after dinner with Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Dermot O'Leary, hopping into her waiting car.

After a dramatic results show on Sunday, the X Factor judges clearly had a few things to discuss at their intimate dinner.

Although Tulisa wasn't directly involved in Saturday night's drama, she showed solidarity by turning up for the group discussion.

Nicole, who has blown her fellow female judge out of the water in the style stakes on the show did it again on Tuesday night, donning a tight-fitting animal print skirt and sheer black shirt.

The star looked far more glamorous than Tulisa, sporting full make-up and adding black stilettos to the outfit.

Leaving with Louis in tow, who had added a strange red cravat to his dark outfit, Nicole was clearly showing where her loyalties lie.

The two judges seemed in great spirits as they left the club arm in arm.

Gary, who stormed off the X Factor stage on Sunday night after his act Carolynne Poole became the first to be voted off the show, seemed a lot more relaxed as he left the dinner.

Looking suave in a grey suit, Gary seemed calm after chatting to his fellow judges ahead of this weekend's live show.

Better spirits: Gary Barlow seems to have calmed down since storming off the X Factor stage on Monday
