Life in the fast line: Declan Donnelly pulls out in his new Maserati

Declan Donnelly treated himself to an early Christmas present this week after a tough month in the jungle.

Although the pint-sized television presenter didn't actually sleep in the wild or undergo any Bushtucker trials, he still felt the need to reward himself with an expensive gift.

The 36-year-old was excited to be back home and tweeted to his followers: 'Home Sweet Home! Sausage sarnie and #Popmaster w, Ken Bruce. Good to be back! Haircut and then delivery of an Xmas gift. To myself! D x (sic).'

Declan later revealed that the gift he had been waiting for was a brand new sports car.

He was spotted today in his new silver Maserati which is reported to cost between £88,590 and £92,360 as standard.

The 4.2 litre engine vehicle is built by Ferrari and does naught to 100mph in 11.9 seconds.

The former Byker Grove star took his new motor out for a spin today and couldn't hide the delight on his face as he pulled out on to the road.

His best friend and co-presenter Ant McPartlin stood-by looking slightly glum as he watched his mate take the Maserati out for a spin.

Maybe Dec, who shares a Twitter page with Ant, 36, will let his friend borrow the car from to time.

The dynamic duo have a short break now before returning to our screens on Christmas Eve to host the finale of ITV's Text Santa.

The programmes, which kick of on December 11 with Philip Schofield and Christine Bleakley, are set to celebrate the spirit of goodwill and good fortune at Christmas.

Ant and Dec said: 'We're proud to be part of ITV's Text Santa. It's a fantastic way to higlight the work of UK charities and what they do at this special time of year.'
