'I want to look my very best for the birth': Stacey Solomon puts smoking furore aside as she enjoys a bit of pampering

By Emily Sheridan

Stacey Solomon has had a difficult two weeks after she was barraged with criticism over her controversial decision to smoke while pregnant.

And after keeping a low-profile since the furore, the reality star has ventured out and about for a spot of pre-baby pampering.

The X Factor 2009 finalist, 22, enjoyed a bit of 'me time' as she decided to get some blonde hair extensions.

With just under eight weeks to go before she is due to give birth to her second child, Solomon has been counting down the days.

Popping into Tatiana Hair Extensions Salon yesterday, Solomon said she wanted to look like Jennifer Aniston.

She said: 'With the birth of my baby fast approaching, I wanted a new look ready for spring. I have decided to go with some flashes of honey blended into my natural hair colour for a fresh finish similar to Jennifer Aniston.

'I want to look my very best at the birth! I love the way the hair colour makes me look slightly suntanned as well.'

When she left the salon a few hours later, Solomon looked thrilled with her caramel locks.

Solomon was back with a smile on her face following a tearful appearance on This Morning earlier this month.

In need of a pick me up: Solomon has been heavily criticised in recent weeks for smoking while pregnant

She broke down as she revealed her guilt at continuing to smoke while pregnant.

Although she has cut down from her 10 a day, Solomon is struggling to quit altogether.

She said on This Morning: 'At the end of the day, nothing that I can say makes it right. All I can say is that from the day I found out that I was pregnant, I have tried my best to give up. I completely understand why people would be angry, because for some people it's incomprehensible.

Lighten up: Solomon said she was going for a Jennifer Aniston look

'As soon as you get pregnant, you think you need so stop. I did smoke between 5 and 10 a day, but I completely cut down and from there on I have been trying to stop.

'I'm smoking] between 1 and 3 a day, if that... I just thought I would be able to quit. And some days I've done really, really well and had none but there are some days when I have had some. I'm doing my best to just go without, but sometimes it's not just as easy to cut it out.'

Following the backlash, Solomon was also removed from the shortlist for the Foxy Bingo Celebrity Mum of the Year campaign.
