Has Kate Moss FINALLY been tamed? The party girl tones down her trademark hedonism for her 38th birthday

By Holly Thomas

Toning things down? Kate Moss appeared to be approaching her 38th birthday in uncharacteristically tame fashion with a trip to UMU restaurant in Mayfair

Her birthday festivities have formerly been the stuff of legend. But it looks as though the notoriously hardcore party princess is finally toning things down.

Kate Moss looked uncharacteristically modest as she celebrated her 38th birthday with a trip to Japanese restaurant UMU in Mayfair this evening.

Wearing an understated ensemble of grey trousers, pumps, and a furry coat, Kate certainly appeared to be taking a more relaxed approach to proceedings than she has in the past.

There was a quiet tone to the warm-up earlier in the day, with bunches of flowers arriving at Kate's London home from well-wishing friends.

Kate's previous celebrations earned her a reputation due to her hedonistic approach to revelry.

A precedent was set with her drug-fueled 21st, organised by then boyfriend Johnny Depp at his infamous LA club Viper Room.

Fresh-faced: Kate's previous celebrations, often spanning several days, used to leave her looking worse-for-wear

Kate's 30th birthday followed a Beautiful And Damned theme, recreating the debauched world inhabited by the fast-living but ultimately doomed characters of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.

Her 34th birthday was deemed something of a disappointment, after a planned 34 hour celebration was cut short as Kate gave in to fatigue after a mere 18 hours.

In fairness, her relationship with guitarist Jamie Hince was on somewhat rocky ground at the time after rows over her party lifestyle.

Turned over a new leaf? Perhaps married life has made an impression on Kate

Continuing the mellow theme: Kate and husband Jamie Hince stepped out looking smart to continue their evening in Mayfair

Composed: Kate would normally be looking somewhat merrier by this stage of proceedings

Council officials were called out to the property in St John's Wood to control the noise levels at Kate's medieval-themed 35th bash, where she kicked off a four-day marathon of excess with a private performance from Lionel Richie.

Things appeared to be taking a turn for the tamer last year however, when Kate celebrated her 37th birthday in a more modest fashion with a trip to the pub and cinema.

She was joined by a group of friends at the real-ale friendly, music-free Uxbridge Arms pub in Notting Hill.

Birthday wishes: A large bouquet of flowers was delivered to Kate's London home in the afternoon

A touching gesture: Gorgeous red roses arrived for Kate as well earlier on

The gang sat around a cosy open fire, before heading around the corner to The Gate cinema to see the Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-winning The King's Speech.

The supermodel couldn't resist a little star flourish however, and she and Jamie also enjoyed a romantic mini-break to Paris to mark the occasion.

Perhaps now that the pair are happily married, Kate had decided to renounce her wild ways once and for all.

Isn't that skirt a BIT too short? Kate Moss goes from sophisticated to thigh-skimming for Rimmel shoot

By HOLLY THOMAS

Switching it up: Kate looked sophisticated when she arrived for her Rimmel campaign shoot in West London today, but things soon turned a little risque when she changed into a barely-there dress

Kate Moss was arguably overdressed for our 'Indian Summer' when she showed up all in black for her new Rimmel campaign shoot in West London today.

However she soon stripped off into something rather more weather-appropriate.
The 37-year-old nearly bared all in an extremely short purple dress.

The model wore simple makeup, with her usual black eyeliner

Though the tiny skirt only just concealed her assests, seasoned model Kate was unconcerned, appearing happy to leave her upper thighs on full display.

The shoot, directed by legendary photographer Mario Testino, involved a variety of outfit changes for Miss Moss, including a rather more modest jeans and striped top combination, an elegant long white dress with a red sash, and a funky orange and electric blue dress.

Unconcerned: Seasoned Kate didn't appear to be bothered by the fact that her tiny skirt was nearly revealing more than it should

This year is a special landmark for Kate as the face of Rimmel.

After a ten-year association with the brand, the 37-year-old is finally launching her own Rimmel lipstick range.

She celebrated the decade's collaboration with a star-studded party at London's Battersea Power Station on the eve of London Fashion Week.

Elegant: Kate changed into a far safer long dress later on, sporting a Rimmel-red sash

Cheers: Kate rested her feet and enjoyed a glass of white in a summery red and blue dress from the shoot

Talking about her new lipstick collection Kate has said: 'My inspiration for this range was really to create a range of easy to wear, classic shades that I have always worn and loved.'

'From bright reds to soft pinks and nudes, there is a shade for everyone and any occasion. It was also really important for me that they were comfortable to wear.

Oh la la! Kate looked chic but casual in a very French ensemble of dark jeans and a striped top, still wearing the same killer red heels

Kate Moss's oh-so-glam wedding photos

By ALISON BOSHOFF

Although Kate Moss’s honeymoon tan has already faded a little since her wedding on July 1, we mere mortals are only now being given a glimpse behind the scenes of her extravagant three-day-long nuptials.

The official wedding photos, published in U.S. Vogue, are a testament to perfectionism. But was Kate’s marriage to guitarist Jamie Hince really a fairy tale?

Here ALISON BOSHOFF lifts the lid on the in-fighting, bitching and hedonism that was the unvarnished truth behind those oh-so magical images.

Bride vs Best Man

Give that the groom chose a woman to be his best man — Alison Mosshart, his bandmate in the Kills — it’s perhaps not surprising things were slightly chilly between the bride and the ‘best man’ on the Big Day. But for Kate to not even speak a single word to the singer at any point during the three days of revelry must have taken some considerable effort.

Ms Mosshart wore a tuxedo and gave a speech littered with profanities which included advice for the bride on how to keep her man, which can’t have gone down very well.

Kate and Mosshart fell out badly two years ago when Mosshart told Jamie he couldn’t bring Kate on their tour of Australia as she would be a distraction

Stunning shots: Kate Moss and Jamie Hince pose up together in intimate picture taken by their official wedding photographer Mario Testino, which appear in American Vogue's September issue

Friends reunited

The prize for most surprising wedding guest went to Jude Law. He fell out with the bride when his marriage to Sadie Frost imploded nearly a decade ago, even though during the Primrose Hill wife-swapping rumours in the mid-1990s Kate and Jude were supposed to have been very close indeed.

The pair were at arms length during Jude’s romance with Sienna Miller, whom Kate detested, and she even told him that he was no longer considered a godparent to her daughter, Lila. However, with Sienna off the scene and Jude very firmly friends again with Kate’s chum Sadie, it seems he was forgiven. Old flame Jefferson Hack, father of eight-year-old Lila, was also a guest.

Don't you know who I am? Kate Moss is turned away from Pulp's surprise Glastonbury set

By Georgina Littlejohn

But I'm Kate Moss! The supermodel was seen arguing with Glastonbury security who turned her away from Pulp's surprise set yesterday

She might be one of the most famous faces in the world but even Kate Moss can sometimes go unrecognised.

Because while she might have had VIP passes for this year's Glastonbury festival, that just wasn't going to cut it with security.

Looking a little dishevelled, the supermodel was seen arguing with bouncers who refused to let her in backstage to watch Pulp play last night.

Kate, 37, was snapped looking upset as she tried to get into the backstage area by the Park stage.

But she got no further than a burly bouncer who appeared to be refusing to let her pass.

Surrounded by her friends, it looked like she tried to reason with the security man but whether she was successfully allowed in is unclear.

Please let me in: Kate smiles sweetly at the bouncer but he refused to budge

Kate arrived at Glastonbury yesterday with a group of friends to watch fiancé Jamie Hince play with his band The Kills.

She was seen cheering him on by the side of the stage, flashing her rock hands to her betrothed.

Earlier she was snapped arriving arm-in-arm with friend Hamish Bowles, the European editor-at-large for Vogue, at the festival looking every inch the rock chick in blue snakeskin print skinny trousers, a green T-shirt black leather jacket and Hunter wellington boots.

I'm here! Kate flashes a grin to the cameras as she arrives at Glastonbury arm-in-arm with Hamish Bowles, the European editor-at-large for Vogue

And she happily sloshed about in the ankle-high mud as she walked around with her friends.

She later met up with Jamie, who she is marrying next weekend, and shared a laugh as he navigated his way through the mud and almost got his boot stuck.

Pulp were one of the 'surprise' acts of the weekend and performed just two weeks after wowing the Isle of Wight festival.

Mind how you go: Kate laughs at fiancé Jamie Hince as he tried to pull his wellie out of the mud

Tens of thousands of people flocked to the Park Stage despite the set only being announced that morning.

It was Pulp's fourth Glastonbury appearance but their first for nine years and as they came on stage, frontman Jarvis Cocker told the crowd: 'We couldn't think of anything to get you so we brought the sunshine.'

After their set, which included some of their biggest hits including Disco 2000 and Common People, he added: 'Thanks Glastonbury, obviously it's been a very important place for us. When we played in '95 things took off for us and we went in a strange orbit around the earth, and now we're back home in one piece.'

A face in the life of Kate Moss: The coarsening effect of drink, drugs and non-stop partying

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Serene, poised and with the hint of a shy smile — Kate Moss was barely recognisable when the Mail published pictures of her yesterday as a sweet 17-year-old posing for a bridal magazine.

Twenty years on, and the wear and tear of her notorious lifestyle has taken its toll.

Here, we look back at Kate’s 20-year career and chart the decline of a once-great beauty.

2011: Looking 37 going on 47, Kate is now busy preparing for her July wedding to Jamie Hince.

How she is dressed on the big day will be a surprise, but one thing is certain: she’ll be almost unrecognisable from the fresh-faced 17-year-old that she was 20 years ago when she posed in that early shoot for Brides magazine.

Kate Moss, the model bride before her lifestyle took its toll

By JENNA GOOD

That was then: Kate Moss posing for Brides magazine at the age of 17

Smiling demurely for the camera, this is Kate Moss posing as a virginal bride aged just 17.

Twenty years on, the supermodel may be seeking to recapture the look for her imminent wedding, but the chances of her being anywhere near as fresh-faced and dewy-eyed seem pretty remote.

For years of partying, hard drinking and drug abuse have clearly taken their toll on the 37-year-old.

Party girl: Hard-drinking and drug abuse have taken their toll on her looks

The pictures, from a 1991 feature in Brides magazine, show the model when she was still a teenager on the brink of stardom.

Those were the days before she left Croydon, south London, to embrace a lifestyle that encapsulated sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll – and plenty of booze and cigarettes to boot.

Innocent: The shoot, completed early in her career, demonstrates just how much Kate's lifestyle has taken its toll

For the photoshoot, Miss Moss modelled that year’s best bridal fashions, all of which were priced at under £500.

However, the pictures merely illustrate the impact her hedonistic lifestyle – including the infamous Cocaine Kate allegations in 2005 – has had on her looks in the intervening years.

Indeed, tumbling out of a friend’s house in west London on Tuesday evening, the model appeared typically well-refreshed.

Miss Moss and Jamie Hince, guitarist in band The Kills, are to marry on July 2 in a church close to her Oxfordshire home.

Kate Moss returns to her hometown of Croydon by helicopter for new Rimmel ad

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Going back to her roots: Supermodel Kate Moss returned to her hometown of Croydon to film an advert for Rimmel make-up on the roof of the Whitgift shopping centre

Since being discovered by a model scout aged 14, Kate Moss has left her hometown of Croydon firmly in her past.

But the supermodel decided to go back to her roots for the new Rimmel make-up advert as she was airlifted into the South London suburb via helicopter.

The 37-year-old blonde was back on stunning form in a red mini dress, patent peep-toe heels and lashings of red lipstick as she shot the commercial on the roof of Croydon's famous Whitgift shopping centre.

Dramatic setting: The supermodel shows off her fantastic legs in a red mini dress and heels as she skips over to the waiting helicopter

The catwalk queen was seen striding across the roof of the Whitgift Centre's multi-storey car park and jumping into a slick black chopper before being lifted over the concrete jungle that is Croydon town centre.

Although the shoot took place at sunrise, Moss was seen earlier on street level near the Allders department store with her hair in rollers and enjoying two of her vices - white wine and a cigarette.

During the promo, there was heavy security on site and the entire top floor of the car park had to be cleared from excited fans.

How do you close this thing? Moss climbs into the helicopter and struggles to get the door shut

Many onlookers misheard and thought Prince William's new wife Kate Middleton, aka Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was in the helicopter.

The model's return to Croydon comes six months after she complained the area had become 'rough' since her childhood.

She told Stylist magazine: 'It’s so rough. My dad was in the pub the other day and somebody got shot.'

Red alert: Moss previously complained Croydon had become 'rough' since she left it in the Nineties

Moss grew up in Addiscombe - just a mile down the road from the Whitgift Centre - and honed her famous style by shopping in second-hand stores while growing up.

When she was dating Hollywood star Johnny Depp in the Nineties, she apparently took him back to the suburb for a tour and brought him to Surrey Street Market and Po Na Na's nightclub.

Of course, Croydon's nightlife has changed a lot since Moss was growing up - perhaps the Rehab bar or Tiger Tiger may not be quite to her tastes these days.

So when is the fitness DVD coming out? TOWIE's Gemma Collins hits bootcamp in just a sports bra and tiny shorts

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

Working hard: Gemma Collins from The Only Way Is Essex is pictured working up a sweat in a gruelling fitness session in a park

She said she was confident, felt beautiful in herself and was a poster girl for bigger women in Brentwood, but it seems The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins is looking to lose some weight.

The curvy car saleswoman, who is nearly 17 stone and takes a size 20 dress, was seen working up a sweat as she was put through her paces during a gruelling fitness session in a park.

The reality TV star was happy to let it all hang out, dressed in a tiny work-out top which she had tucked under her breasts, and a pair of lycra shorts.

The outfit, which did little to flatter her fuller figure, will no doubt draw comparisons with pictures of weather girl Clare Nasir when she embarked on a fitness regime which saw her slim to a size 6.

But Gemma is not looking to undergo such a dramatic transformation and a spokesperson for the reality star told MailOnline she is just hoping to become more healthy.

He told MailOnline: 'Gemma is heading to a week long boot camp where she will be looking at her diet and seeking nutritional advice.'

Jumping for joy? Gemma, who tips the scales at nearly 17 stone and wears a dress size of between 18 and 20, is seen working hard building up her cardio with a spot of skipping

Getting fit and healthy: Gemma who is proud of her curves does not want to undergo a drastic weightloss but is looking to improve her diet and be more healthy

'She is exercising to become more healthy and a healthier shape.'

Collins, who has often spoken about her crush on fellow TOWIE co-star Mick Norcross, was seen skipping, boxing and jogging and certainly didn’t seem to slack during the tough training which took place just over two weeks ago.

However, her bid to lose weight comes after she has spoken about her confidence with her voluptuous figure on many occasions.

DVD due soon? The images of Gemma Collins, right, will no doubt be compared with the 2010 photos of Claire Nasir who was pictured working out (left) in a lime green two-piece before dropping to a size 6

Collins took part in a revealing photo shoot for heat magazine and said: ‘If I had to walk down a catwalk next to Kate Moss, I would. As long as I could have a tan and heels, it'd be absolutely fine!’

‘I'm not perfect, but I am confident and I feel beautiful. I'm a size 18-20 and almost 17 stone, so I'm doing it for us bigger girls.’

Feeling the pain: The car saleswoman stops for a breather after pushing herself hard during the session

Cooling off: Gemma, who is hoping lose some weight in order to be healthier, used her water bottle to cool down after the hardcore session

She added: ‘Some people are like, “Gemma, why don't you get the weight off?” and I say, “Cos I feel sexy!” The day I feel gross is the day I'll do something about it - but I don't.

‘I love my boobs, and I've got a little waist. My hips are a little bit fat, but you've got to shake what your mama gave you!’

Gemma joined her fellow TOWIE stars last night for the wrap party to celebrate the end of series two of the hit show.

The final episode of the series, which aired last night, showed Gemma bursting into tears after thinking that Mick Norcross, who she has openly admitted to liking, was coming over to talk to her with some champagne.

It's a wrap: Gemma Collins smooches with her crush Mick Norcross, who was also seen kissing a number of girls at the TOWIE bash. Right, Collins shows off a ring on her engagement finger

The bubbly blonde was left embarrassed and upset after he walked straight past her to another woman.

But as the episode aired she was actually enjoying a smooch with Mick Norcross at the wrap party held at the Sugar Hut nightclub- which Norcross owns.

However, the nightclub owner was seen kissing and cuddling a number of the girls at the party.

Meanwhile Collins, who seemed in extremely high spirits, showed off a ring on her engagement finger.
