Nervous: Kerry Katona looked slightly tentative as she took to the ice for the first time with Torvill and Dean

Kerry Katona looks more than a little nervous as she takes to the ice for the first time with mentors Torvill and Dean ahead of her Dancing On Ice debut this weekend.

The 30-year-old presenter looked tentative and apprehensive as she made her way on to the rink in the session last year.

But Kerry, who wore leggings, a baseball jacket and grey gloves for the rehearsal, soon cheered up when she was met by legendary ice skating champions Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean, the resident mentors for celebrity contestants on the ITV show.

Struggling: Kerry practised on the ice ahead of her debut on Dancing On Ice this weekend

Kerry is just one of the 18 skaters who will take to the ice on Sunday night, but admits she is terrified about facing the show's judges, particularly acid-tongued Jason Gardiner.

Gardiner has never made a secret of his dislike of Kerry, saying when she was first rumoured to be taking part: 'We’ve had some rude and very annoying people on the show but Kerry would sink us to an all new low.

'We should be aiming for someone like Victoria Beckham, not Kerry at the other end of the scale.'

Oops! But Kerry couldn't manage it, and slipped over while Torvill kept a tight grip on her

But Kerry is now hoping to win over the judge with her talents on the ice.

She said: 'I know he doesn’t like me. I just hope he judges me on my skating ability and doesn’t try to bring up my past to put me down.

'All I can do is my best. I’ve come a long way in the past 12 months.'

Competitor: Nadia Sawalha was held by Torvill and Dean as she made her way around the rink

Kerry wasn't the only one who appeared to be struggling during the rehearsal.

Photos of the rehearsal, which took place last October but will be shown on Sunday's series premiere, show Nadia Sawalha spending more of her time on her bottom on the ice than standing upright.

And Nadia is finding the weekend's first episode more than a little daunting as she will be competing against other stars who have found picking up the skating skill a lot easier.

Lady in red: Nickelodeon presenter Laura Hamilton looked very confident as she glided around the rink

Here come the boys: Jeff Brazier and former Coronation Street star Steven Arnold also appear confident

She said: 'Jennifer Metcalfe is really good. Oh my God, she's doing some massive lifts up in the air already. I wish I was Jennifer Metcalfe! Can I please be her? She's gorgeous.'

Nadia also admitted her two daughters Maddie, seven, and Kiki, three, are finding their mother's new role difficult to comprehend, getting confused as to the identity of her skating partner Mark Hanretty.

The actress, who is married to Mark Addrerley, said: 'Kiki keeps asking me if my skating partner Mark is my boyfriend. I have to say, "No, darling, Daddy is my boyfriend", and she's saying, "No, you've got a new boyfriend, Mummy".

'And of course they're both called Mark, which is completely confusing for her!'
