'They're happy': Chelsea Clinton flashes wedding ring amid denials her marriage is on the rocks

By Daily Mail Reporter

Happy? Friends of Chelsea Clinton, pictured yesterday in New York, have been forced to deny that her marriage is in trouble

Chelsea Clinton sent a clear message as she stepped out in New York yesterday with her wedding ring firmly in place amid claims her marriage to Marc Mezvinsky is in trouble.

Friends of the couple today denied the pair are on the brink of splitting just months after their nuptials.

Eyebrows were raised after Mezvinsky quit his job as an investment banker to go snowboarding for three months - without his wife.

The daughter of the former President Bill Clinton and current Secretary of State is planning to stay in New York while her husband spends three months in Jackson Hole ski resort in Wyoming.

Their temporary separation comes as a report in the National Enquirer claims the pair had a furious row over starting a family.

Rock solid: The former president's daughter, 30, was still wearing her wedding and engagement rings as she went about her business

Chelsea is said to have initially been eager to have children, but had then decided to wait a year before getting pregnant. The American tabloid reported Mezvinsky felt 'deceived' by the change of heart.

An unnamed source was quoted as telling the publication: 'Chelsea asked her mother and father if they could help her get an annulment.

'She's heartbroken but she isn't afraid to end the marriage. She regrets now that she ever married Marc.'

While her huge diamond ring was clearly on show yesterday, there is no denying Chelsea looked rather washed out after a trip to the gym in her fitness gear.

Those close to the couple have insisted that the marriage is still strong.
'The happy couple are happy,' a family friend told People.

'Any report suggesting there is trouble in the marriage is absolutely false,' the friend added.

Separate lives: Ms Clinton, pictured with husband Marc Mezvinsky on their wedding day in July, are said to be spending three months apart

Mezvinsky, 33, is still listed as a partner on the website of hedge fund G3 Capital, though a colleague told the New York Post yesterday that he was 'unavailable'.

The paper reported that he had left his job in order to spend a season skiing at Jackson Hole, which is a favourite with celebrities such as Clint Eastwood and David Beckham.

Ms Clinton, meanwhile, is remaining in New York, where she is currently studying for a degree in public policy at the city's Columbia University.

The fact that the pair will be living apart comes as something of a surprise, given that friends claim Ms Clinton is desperate to start a family.

A representative for Ms Clinton declined to comment on the reports, but a source close to the couple said that the 30-year-old would be visiting her husband every few weeks.

The couple married on July 31 in a ceremony estimated to cost $5million, that was dubbed by the press as 'America's Royal Wedding'.

They live on New York's Fifth Avenue in an apartment Mr Mezvinsky has owned since 2008.

The pair met while they were both studying at Stanford University in California in 1997, though they didn't start dating until 2005.

Marc is the son of former Republicans Ed Mezvinsky and Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky.

Marc’s family were close to Bill and Hillary Clinton during their time at the White House – and were frequent guests at state dinners.

Like his wife, Mr Mezvinsky is no stranger to political controversy.

His father, an Iowa congressman, served five years in jail after pleading guilty in 2002 to charges of bank and wire fraud.
