But Victoria Beckham appeared to really let her guard down and have a laugh at her baby shower in Los Angeles today.
The pregnant star posted a photo of herself wrapped up in toilet paper fashioned into a dress at the party, thrown by her close friends Eva Longoria and Ken Paves.
The game of creating gowns out of loo roll is usually reserved for hen's parties and pre-wedding kitchen teas, but that didn't stop the designer throwing herself into the task with gusto.
The 37-year-old posed for a hilarious snap with friends in which she attempts to maintain her usual cool demeanour while wrapped head to toe in the toilet paper, complete with head piece.
Victoria tweeted: 'Such a lovely day!!!thank u so much @EvaLongoria and @KenPaves for being such wonderful friends.Baby showers are so much fun!!!!!!!x vb'
She then posted the photo, writing, 'So much fun!'
Earlier in the day the designer revealed her trepidation over being asked to wear 'something waterproof' for the event.
She tweeted: 'I have been told to wear something waterproof for my baby shower!!!!I'm now very nervous!!!!'

The party's host, Eva Longoria immediately replied cheekily 'Haha!' but neither women have revealed yet what constituted the need for waterproof clothing.
Eva is one of a number of friendships Victoria has formed since moving to Los Angeles, while celebrity hair dresser Ken Paves is often seen with Victoria cheering her husband David on at LA Galaxy games.

LA buddies: Victoria and Eva, pictured last year, became close shortly after the Beckhams moved to LA in 2008Her first friend in States was Katie Holmes who, along with husband Tom Cruise, threw a welcome party for the Beckhams upon their arrival in 2008.
But after being joined at the hip for months the two women have not been seen in public together in some time.
Other buddies include actress Kate Beckinsale and Gordon Ramsay's wife Tana, both expected to be invited to the shower.
Victoria is expecting her fourth child, a baby girl, in July and is understood to have indulged in a mammoth shopping spree for baby clothes in Harrod's during her recent visit to London for the Royal Wedding.

The pint-size trainer if famous for Madonna's muscles and also for transforming the bodies of working mothers Gwyneth Paltrow and Courteney Cox.
Beckham wants to lose 20 pounds in four to six weeks with Anderson's help, the paper claims.
Meanwhile her husband David and son Brooklyn narrowly escaped injury today when they were involved in a collision on one of California's busiest freeways.

The 36-year-old former England captain and his son, who were both wearing seatbelts, were unhurt in the rush hour collision.
LA Galaxy star Beckham was at the wheel of his luxury black Cadillac Escalade when it became the third car in the pile-up.
The accident happened on the 405 Freeway, near Torrance, a small beach city just outside of Los Angeles.
Beckham and his son were described as shaken but not in need of medical treatment.
