Split: Sam Faiers has finally confirmed she and Joey Essex have ended their relationship


Sam Faiers has spoken out about her split from Joey Essex, saying the spark just went out between them.

The 20-year-old star, who started dating her fellow The Only Way Is Essex star Joey earlier this year, said she felt she 'needed space' from her 20-year-old beau.

She wrote in her new column in Star magazine: 'I was mothering Joey - I just need space from him.

'He’s gorgeous but we spent so much time together so quickly that the spark went out just as fast.'


However, hinting at a possible reconciliation, Sam added: 'But I reckon we could get it back.'

Sam also said she didn't like the fact that Joey always put her needs before his own.
She explained: 'He was always more concerned about me than himself, and – although

it is nice to be put first – I didn’t want it to be like that.'

Hints? While the pair both attended the recent T4 On The Beach, they didn't appear together

Glamour model Sam added that the pressure of maintaining a relationship in the public eye, and on hit ITV2 show TOWIE, often proves too much to cope with.

She said: 'I honestly think we’ve all had so much pressure put on us - and it’s amazing for the show - but we are all under so much pressure and it’s too much for our relationships.'

Sam also hit out at comparisons between the relationship she had with Joey and her co-stars' Lauren Goodger and Mark Wright's relationship.

She said: 'This is our real life. It isn’t fake and it isn’t publicity. Lauren and Mark are always out to prove a point - me and Joey aren’t like that.

'We have always kept it private.'

Earlier this week, Sam hit back at reports she had split from Joey, insisting the reason they hadn't been seen together was because they were both so busy.

Indeed, while Sam has her own commitments with modelling and running her clothes boutique Minnie's in Brentwood, Essex, Joey has just launched his own T-shirt range called Reem for Selfridges.com.
