Strictly crazy about each other: Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton dance for the cameras in a new Strictly Come Dancing-themed photoshoot for Star magazine
After just six months of dating, Alex Reid is convinced he's found his soulmate in Chantelle Houghton.
But when the pair first clapped eyes on each other at the Fate Awards in Belfast in April, the former cagefighter admitted he wanted to run in the opposite direction.
Although it didn't take long for the 36-year-old to change his mind, he admitted he was wary of the blonde model, 28.
The couple met on April 15, just weeks after Houghton's explosive split from TV presenter Rav Wilding and three months after Reid was dumped by estranged wife Katie Price.
So after splitting from Price after just 11 months of marriage, Reid was understandably wary of getting involved with another celebrity female.
He tells the new issue of Star magazine: 'When I first met her I didn’t wanna go near! I wasn’t keen on going back into a high-profile relationship after what happened before. But obviously I learnt from my last one…

'I thought she was quite sexy. I thought I’d take things slow, but a bottle of red wine later, it was just…ohhh.'
Despite still being legalled married to Price, Reid proposed to Houghton on an Irish chat show two weeks ago and the couple have been open about their attempts to try for a baby.
And the couple revealed they are finally getting an engagement ring to 'seal the deal'.
Houghton enthuses: 'It’s being specially made as we speak! It’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s the ring every girl dreams of. We both chose it together.'
Despite getting engaged so quickly, the pair insisted they won't be rushing down the aisle.
Reid said: '(My divorce) is imminent. But we’re not getting married for another year, so it’s not like it’s interfering.'
Speaking about their attempts to have a baby after Houghton admitted her fertility has been reduced by her previous eating disorders, Reid said: '“We’re not trying, we’re gonna have a baby, one hundred per cent. I reckon we’re gonna have twins… a boy and a girl.'
Houghton revealed the pair are hoping to conceive through in-vitro fertilisation.
No doubt both will be hoping their second marriage lasts longer than their first after both couples separated just 10 months after their weddings.
Reid wed Price in Las Vegas in February 2010 after seven months of dating, while Houghton tied the knot with Preston in April 2006, just four months after meeting on Celebrity Big Brother.
