Denise Welch reduced to tears as Michael Madsen calls her 'emotionally disturbed' in face-to-face Big Brother nominations

The tears have started: Denise Welch was reduced to tears when Michael Madsen labelled her 'emotionally disturbed' on last night's Celebrity Big Brother

They've never exactly been the best of friends.

But things erupted between Denise Welch and Michael Madsen last night after the Reservoir Dogs actor labelled the actress 'emotionally disturbed'.

The comment came as the Celebrity Big Brother housemates were forced to make face-to-face nominations on last night's spin-off show.

Nominating Denise, Michael said: 'I can’t stand another minute in this house with Denise, I am not the source of this argument…she is.

'I feel she is emotionally disturbed and like she said it’s either me or her.'

Less than impressed: Denise was not happy when Michael made the comments during the nomination process

However, Denise was left so distraught by Michael's comments that she burst into tears, and had to be comforted by Natalie Cassidy and the Playboy twins Kristina and Karissa.

Following the incident, Natalie was fuming by Michael's behaviour and vowed to talk to the actor, who she has previously likened to a grandfather figure in the house.

She told her fellow housemates: 'I can’t let it lie. He needs to be told that what he said about Denise was wrong.'

Unhappy: Michael kept his head down as he voted for Denise and Nicola

Struggling through the pain: Denise was left in tears following the difficult nominations process

Natalie continued: 'Honestly, I will not talk to him now, I will be polite but I won’t talk to him. When he wakes up tomorrow going "good morning" he won’t be getting a good morning from me. I won’t be entertaining conversations. I don’t like false people.'

Frankie Cocozza added: 'That was so evil, I can’t even get over that.'

Michael's nomination of Denise came after their frequent arguing in the house, which Denise said had been 'causing an atmosphere'.

During the process, nice guy rugby player Gareth Thomas was the only star to avoid being nominated.

Feud: Denise and Michael have been having frequent arguments inside the house

My turn: Denise nominated Michael in return, as well as nominating the twins

Before they were called up, Frankie shook his head at the live nominations and said: 'This is the most evil thing, I don't think I can do it.'

Each celebrity was then given a chalk board on which they had to write the names of the housemates they wanted up for eviction.

Denise was the first one up and stood in front of her fellow celebrities and announced she was voting for Michael and the twins.

Mr Nice Guy: Gareth is the only housemate not facing the public vote this Friday after the housemates were forced to make face-to-face eviction nominations

Relief: Gareth couldn't hide his relief as he became the only housemates to escape being nominated

The Playboy twins, Karissa and Kristina simply said, 'Kirk and Natalie,' while Natalie also kept it simple and said: 'Michael and the twins.'

Romeo was next up and looked deflated as he turned his board over to reveal his nominations and said: 'I nominate Frankie, because they way he talks about women can be overboard. And Michael because there's a slight imbalance in the house.

He said: 'I'm voting for the twins because if I didn't start a conversation, they wouldn't talk to me and I also vote for Romeo, and the only reason being because no one else will nominate him.'

I'm can't do this: Frankie looked horrified at having to make face-to-face nominations

You seem happy about this! The twins had no hesitation in voting for Kirk and Natalie

Do I have to do this? Romeo looked gutted at having to make face-to-face nominations but decided to vote for Frankie and Michael

Kirk voted for Michael and the twins because, 'we don't see eye to eye', and then Nicola got up and got quite emotional as she announced she would be voting for Michael and the twins.

Gareth then said: 'I'm voting for the twins because when they were with Georgia, I found it difficult to get into a conversation with you, and Michael, purely because I want him to see his family.'

After all the housemates had voted, Big Brother revealed that they were all up to face the public vote with the exception of Gareth who no one had voted for.

You sure, Frankie? The X Factor reject voted for the twins first, but looked as though he'd had a hard time deciding who to vote for in second place but settled for Romeo

Upsetting: Nicola got emotional as she announced that she was voting for Michael and the twins

The face-to-face nominations were revealed on the Big Brother spin-off show and the live eviction will take place this Friday night.

Meanwhile, Denise also spoke about the antics shown earlier this week when she was seen enjoying a hot tub frolic with Frankie.

Speaking about the scenes, Denise admitted she was hoping she hadn't caused her family any embarrassment.

She said: 'I really hope my kids don't see that. It was only a bit of fun. I wanted to give Frankie a treat on his birthday.'
