Off-duty Olsen: Ashley lets her guard down to flash a rare smile on bikini break in Hawaii

It's like waiting for a bus and then three come along at once.

Ashley Olsen was pictured during a rather rare sighting, not only the smiling, but also boldly frolicking in a bikini and also shrugging off the fact she was in the company of photographers.

The 25-year-old is ordinarily a private person and is frequently seen with her head buried into her neck, covered by giant sunglasses, as she globe-trots from destination to destination.

But the child actress-turned-fashion designer invited the lens to capture a more genuine side of her as she flashed a natural grin while taking a dip in the Pacific sea.

The blonde beauty showed off her figure in black bikini bottoms and a multi-coloured zig-zag bra top.

While she is obviously slender, the 5ft 3in star had healthy curves and was not pencil thin.

Following Ashley's last venture onto the silver screen in 2004, alongside sister and co-star Mary-Kate in New York Minute, the blonde beauty decided to call quits on her acting career.

Last month, she told ELLE UK: 'We worked non-stop until we were 18.

'Then we decided to take a break and go to school, and that was when we decided to question whether we would carry on in entertainment. It was time to step behind the process.'

'But if I ever do get back in, it's not going to be as an actress.'

Mary-Kate, however, still dabbles with life in front of the camera.

She controversially smooched Sir Ben Kingsley - 43 years her senior - in 2008's The Wackness, and more recently starred in Beastly with Vanessa Hudgens.
