That's one way to make an entrance! New X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger displays more than she bargained for as the wind blows up her dress

..She was axed form the US show after just one season before being drafted in to fill the last remaining judging slot on the UK version.

And today was Nicole Scherzinger's big return to the X Factor and she certainly made an entrance.

The singer, 33, arrived at the Newcastle auditions in an short emerald green dress but gusts of wind left her flashing her nude coloured slip to the hordes of people gathered for the auditions.

The 33-year-old singer arrived at the auditions ready to take on her new role in the floaty pleated one-shoulder dress.

Nicole had teamed the ensemble with a pair of towering silver peep toe heels and a matching metallic belt.

While she looked lovely it was soon apparent the dress wasn't suitable for the windy weather and her pale slip was flashed on several occasions.

Nicole tweeted: 'Just got to Newcastle XF, my first day on the job and the fans r amazing! Wish me luck! Xo'

Last week the former Pussycat Doll spoke out about her new role and said: 'I’m so excited to join the UK X Factor family. It's where I got my start, so it feels great to come full circle.'

She added: 'I can’t wait to see what talent the UK has to offer and to help inspire and bring out the best in these artists.'

X Factor producers were left searching for a new judge after Dannii Minogue turned down a £1 million deal to return to the show after they axed Kelly Rowland.

Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell and Mel B, music newcomer Rita Ora, singer Anastacia and X Factor winner Leona Lewis all stepped into the vacant role on a temporary basis.

Nicole, who had filled in for Cheryl Cole in 2010, also joined the panel and was announced as the permanent judge last week.

The X Factor will return to screens in August, with live shows from October and Miss Scherzinger would join Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos on the judging panel.

The singer could be on more than £500,000 as Barlow is on a £2 million deal.

Miss Scherzinger was originally hired as a co-host for the X Factor USA, which debuted in the States last year, alongside Steve Jones.

However, after Cheryl Cole was axed after just four days of filming, the singer stepped in to replace her.

But X Factor supremo Simon Cowell dumped her and fellow judge Paula Abdul, as well as Steve Jones, after the series – replacing the judges with Britney Spears and Disney starlet Demi Lovato.

Today Nicole joined reigning judge Tulisa Contostavlos, who won the show last year, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh.

Tulisa opted for an unusual outfit for the auditions today and donned an angular dress with sorbet-inspired stripes.

She teamed the bold ensemble with fierce heels covered in spikes.
